Born a stone’s throw from Marseille, Axel Chay is a type of artistic people who spotlight the skills of the town. A graduate in commerce and advertising, he launched himself into design in 2013, whereas returning to his southern homeland – a place that evokes the colours, the graphic waves, and the sensuality that emerge from his work. As for his personal pantheon, the southerner has chosen Donald Judd, but in addition Julio Le Parc and the Memphis movement as his muses. Among the many exceptional items in his repertoire are the “Parad” armchair, a true evocation of sea bathing, his “Modulations” lighting, and the “Septem” benches and stool. His work may be seen till 18 June at the Maison ARCHIK in Paris.
