Former assistant director and set photographer, the wife of the good director Wim Wenders, Donata Wenders has been creating a poetic black-and-white photographic work since 1995.

It's in her collection, Within the Snow (2010), that her work comes closest to a pictorialist research: elegant female figures appear as if in transparency behind a rain of “pointillist” snowflakes or drowned in a flaky mist until they soften and disappear.

A poetic evocation of effacement that can be found in many portraits – resembling the gorgeous gaze displaying via the veil (The Veil, 2002) or the blurred face with closed eyes of Milla (1999), within the collection Islands of silence; but in addition within the architectural pictures (Berlin, 2007) and lots of studies.
