The philosophy of the Façade studio lies in its fixed want to redefine architectural considering. To do so, the founders take us to Geni, a village in Lefkada, Greece, surrounded by rocky cliffs and the Ionian Sea. The undertaking, referred to as “Wedge,” gained the Architizer A+Awards 2022 Jury Award.

This complicated, underneath development, consists of two similar personal houses. The House-[V] and The [v]-house. The primary, situated on the higher degree, is devoted to friends. Its underground construction consists of indoor and semi-outdoor spaces and follows the geometry of a wedge, that small object typically formed like a triangle that serves to fix or separate one other room. The second presents daytime and nighttime dwelling areas structured in rows. Because the studio states, “the triangular prism seems to have been wedged into the natural ground, splitting the dwelling in two, filtering and separating daytime dwelling spaces from nighttime ones.”

However Façade takes its considering a step additional, drawing its general inspiration from the town’s identify, Lefkada, which refers back to the “white stone” in Homer’s Odyssey, the opaline shade that the island’s grey cliffs can tackle when the solar beams down. These white triangular prisms, which appear to be “holds,” are a nod to the Greek poet, creating sudden and unprecedented spatial circumstances, conducive to dwelling.
