Can style images grow to be a manifesto? With Nadine Ijewere, indisputably. From her footage, we retain the brilliant colours and the cheerfulness of the fashions, the poses in motion and the vitality of the teams of their interactions with their surroundings. For trend images, nevertheless, she chooses the range of our bodies and identities. The London-based photographer, who repeatedly works for Vogue, integrates bodies long absent from the catwalks and magazines. Her lens captures the great thing about nuances of gender and coloring. Her monograph “Our Personal Selves” showcases a few of these sublimated individuals, akin to a collection of portraits taken in Jamaica, pushed by her own Nigerian and Jamaican origins.
