Captivated with urbex, the apply of visiting abandoned city locations, Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre have devoted 15 years of their lives to traveling america in the hunt for film theaters. In the middle of their wanderings, the photographic duo visited lots of of sleeping theaters, sumptuous buildings with triumphant units, like so many vestiges of a forgotten Hollywood. Deserted, buried in dust, reworked into supermarkets, metamorphosed into chapels: these theaters rediscover the glitter of their baroque and Artwork Deco influence. More than a quest, a human journey that has given rise to a number of exhibitions hosted by Galerie Polka, of which “Epilogue” is the newest installment.
