On September 23rd, trend photographer Tim Walker arrived at the press conference of the Kunsthal Museum in Rotterdam accompanied by his mother. A presence that reveals how a lot his childhood impressed him and how he built-in this fairy-tale universe into his pictures.
He began his career on the age of 181 18, when he started working for the Condé Nast group library. It was then that he found the work of English photographer and costume designer Cecil Beaton, a discovery that sparked his love of images. At the age of 25, the artist did his first shoot for Vogue and his profession began.
He would quickly go on to shoot for the British, Italian, and American editions of Vogue, in addition to for W, i-D, AnOther Journal, and LOVE Journal.
Tim Walker’s fascinating exhibition «Fantastic Issues» is an ode to creativity and his distinctive creativeness. Tilda Swinton, Grace Jones, Grayson Perry, and lots of other muses transport us into a magical, surreal, and enchanted world.
This new exhibition is among the largest ever organized and features over 150 new works inspired by the gathering of the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London. The photographer has all the time needed to deconstruct the diktats of trend by breaking, as he explains, «the boundaries that society has created to rejoice totally different beauties and the fantastic variety that humanity has brought us.”
