The Beijing-based architecture firm AOE has produced advantageous work with this first artwork middle specializing in Sino-Italian cultural exchanges, in content and in type. The target of this building, situated near the town of Chengdu, is to present the respective Chinese and Italian cultures, and thus create an intersection between East and West. The overall idea is impressed by the “Ruyi,” used since historic China as an auspicious present to overseas ambassadors to suggest the conclusion of pleasant relations and peace between the two nations.

The Italian pavilion attracts on the arches and domes of Roman antiquity and the long-lasting Italian piazza with its fountains and amphitheaters. The harmony between structure and nature lies in using natural assets and the safety of the surroundings. The omnipresence of white illuminates the round and semicircular constructing, forming a multipurpose area devoted to the totally different sections (exhibitions, conferences, reception, catering). The massive home windows join the interior and exterior, allowing the luxurious landscape to be absolutely integrated.

And close by is the Chinese language Cultural Corridor, hidden in a forest of bamboo. Two paths, certainly one of which is manufactured from white Chinese language jade over a pond, join the 2 buildings, symbolizing the two silk roads between East and West, on land and on water.
