Vibratile areas
Born in 1967 in Copenhagen, affiliated with the Mild and Area motion, Olafur Eliasson has made mild and chromatic phenomena the idea for an exploration of notion and especially of its subjectivity. Considering the notion of the external surroundings (mild and darkness, colors, depth of area and time…) as intrinsically linked to the notion of oneself, one’s physique and one’s interiority, the artist, who places the spectator/viewer at the middle of his units, seeks to stimulate this awareness by intensifying actuality: video games of shimmers and lightweight diffractions, synthetic waterfalls and fogs, truncated or demultiplied views, artificial coloring of mists or rivers…, his palette, always renewed and enriched by the various collaborators in his studio, is infinite. The artist who, through the Local weather Conference in November 2015, exhibited twelve blocks of ice introduced from the Greenland Sea in entrance of the National Meeting, has not completed shocking us…
