With the Longshan mountain range as its company and the Futun stream operating via it, the Shunchang Museum weaves collectively city development and natural panorama, and conventional culture and modern metropolis dynamism. Part museum, part city planning exhibition middle, part office area, part cultural relics repository, half auditorium, half ebook bar, half cafe, this majestic monument is the work of the Institute of Architectural Design and Research at Zhejiang College (UAD). Clad in a pores and skin of textured white granite, the huge, sculptural monolith matches like a spindle into this elongated terrain between mountains and streams. With its mirrored glass and chrome steel panels that create a play of reflections between water, mountain and man, the Shunchang Museum just isn't merely an exhibition area, it is itself an exhibition object. Our favourite? The central oculus which brings luminosity and air flow in this city front room the place a secular tree is a witness of the reminiscence of the place.
